Yours truly has returned, in the form of a new character! Behold, Declan Townsend!
Background:
Declan Townsend, the second born of Chelsea and Markus Townsend, was born on Luna. His father was
the founder and owner of Townsend Shipping, which operated throughout the Consortium and hauled
everything from agricultural products to weapons for the Vanguard. At the age of eleven, Declan’s
older sister died in a rock slide on Luna while hiking the Sea of Tranquility with a group of
friends. This would put pressure on Declan, as he grew older, to take over the business from his
father. It’s not that he didn’t want to run Townsend Shipping, but he had his eyes set of serving
the Consortium in other ways. At the age of ninteen, Declan left for Earth where he would study
Commerce and Interstellar relations, before going on to obtain a law degree. Afterwards, to the
disappointment of his father, Declan enlisted as an officer with the Vanguard. After basic training,
he went on to be assigned with the Vanguard’s Office of the Judge Advocate General.Over the course of the next decade, Declan would rise to the rank of Lieutentant Commander, serving
on Earth, Castor, and several ships. He would gain experience in interstellar law, having
represented several cased where Vanguard officers were arrested on non-Consortium worlds. While on
assignment aboard various ships, he would also be assigned to various fighter squadrons as he did
maintain a certification in starship operations (which he felt was needed, as there was still some
expectation he would take over the family company after leaving the service). Several years before
he would leave the service, his father would pass and Townsend Shipping would pass the torch to his
uncle, at which point the company expanded beyond hauling freight and rebranded as Townsend
Enterprises. There had been rumors that in addition to his working as a lawyer within the Vanguard,
Lt Command Townsend was also assigned to a clandestine unit within the intelligence apparatus that
worked to obtain information through less-than-legal means – his exact involvement was never
publicly known, but a classified dossier on his activity would reaveal that his role was to look at
legal loopholes in which to exploit for this intellience group would operate within. After leaving the service of the Vanguard, Declan was immediately approached to take a position
within the Consortium government as an advisor in interstallar legal matters given his experience.
He would be tapped to become a diplomat, formally acknowledging to the family that he had no
interest in running the business but remained at arms length in the role of a Director-at-Large on
the companies Board. While he was not formally an Ambassador to any specific world, Townsend was a
member of the Consortium Diplomatic Corp, and would eventually go on to have political aspirations.
He maintained close ties to Luna, and represented Lunite interests wherever he went.-
